“You surpassed our expectations & we still are marveling at our transformed rambler as we try to remember what we had & where we've come.”

After architects Pelletier + Schaar drew a master plan for their West Seattle rambler, the Bests contacted Blue Canyon with the intent to begin with a kitchen renovation. However, Blue Canyon got creative and advised the best way to implement the architect's design within the available budget would be to focus on altering the existing framework of the house. To give the home a more contemporary look, Blue Canyon replaced the exterior windows and raised and reconfigured the roofline to create more natural light. Tearing down an entire West-facing wall and adding a deck further helped to brighten the interior and improve the home's flow while creating a coveted view. A few thoughtfully placed bump-outs added crucial square-footage, and with all these changes in place the kitchen proved to need only minor updates, such as appliances and color, to fit the rest of the newly modernized home.
